AT TRUWOOD WE USE ONLY THE BEST MATERIALS AND THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF OUR WOOD SURFBOARDS

Our boards have a recycled/recyclable EPS core, Paulownia wood skins with FSC certificate and natural cork. They are UNGLASSED! Only varnished!

(we only use a little amount of bio-epoxy resin for the fins plug and leash plug)

EPS - Our EPS (expanded polystyrene) core is largely made of recycled EPS and is fully recyclable. Although it is not biodegradable, it is much less harmful than traditional PU. In any case, we are still looking for a more sustainable and ecological option for our cores, in fact, there are already several companies that are investigating more sustainable solutions, such as organic foams, made from fungi, algae or other natural sources. We are confident that soon we will be able to build our boards in an even more sustainable way.

PAULOWNIA WOOD - Paulownia wood has several characteristics that make it the perfect wood for building high performance and sustainable surfboards. Paulownia wood is light weight, strong and water resistant. Paulownia wood is the second lightest wood after balsa, it is the fastest-growing hardwood and also has the highest strength to weight ratios of any wood in the world. It absorbs 10 times more CO2 than any other tree species, releasing large quantities of O2.

That’s why our wooden surfboards are environmentally friendly, surf better and last longer.

CORK -  Cork is an extraordinary material, with unique properties and it's much stronger than you might think. It is a completely natural, renewable and biodegradable product. For this reason, its production does not produce any pollution or damage to the ecosystem, since it is obtained by debarking the cork oak, without cutting down any tree and this "harvest" is carried out every 9 to 12 years.

These are just some of the incredible characteristics of cork:

  • Lightness - 90% of its volume is air.

  • Impermeability - Cork is almost waterproof thanks to the suberin and wax it contains.

  • Elasticity - Has the ability to recover the initial volume after suffering a deformation.

  • Extremely durable - Cork is among the most durable organic materials.

  • Environmental friendly - Cork is a material derived from trees that regenerate themselves, so its use does not harm the environment.

  • Mechanically strong - Cork articles have high mechanical resistance even in extreme temperatures.
